ABOUT
We are Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at The University of Central Florida (oSTEM at UCF), a professional development organization focused on uniting students of STEM majors and LGBTQ+ identities. Our mission is to create and cultivate an environment where students at UCF, of all gender and sexual identities can unite, learn about various internship and employment opportunities, connect with a variety of professionals in STEM fields, and cultivate their personal and professional appearances to help maximize their success post-graduation. We are the local chapter of the national organization Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and we are dedicated to continuing their work here at UCF.

INCLUSIVITY
oSTEM seeks to provide a safe space for all people to express themselves. To that end, we have and hold ourselves to a high-level and broad diversity policy, built around respect for individuals regardless of where they are on life’s journey. oSTEM prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, race, color, ethnicity, citizenship, cultural background, socioeconomic status, age, disability, religion, or veteran status. Furthermore, oSTEM prohibits any harassment that detracts from the learning experience or threatens an individual in any form.
LEADERSHIP
oSTEM envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people in the STEM community are empowered to achieve success in a safe and supportive environment that celebrates their diversity and unique contributions. This is why Leadership is important to us. We want to develop the skills and enhance the qualities of future generations to instill a new wave of leaders.
AUTHENTICITY
oSTEM strives to break down the stigma of needing to "hide your true self" in the workplace. We firmly believe in building the personal brand, which includes learning to accept the self regardless of gender or identity. Celebrating that authenticity is not only a great way to stand out from the crowd in interviews, but a stepping stone in creating personal and professional success.
